BIOGRAPHY

Christophe Beauregard Photographer

“The human body – social body, intimate body – is at the heart of my work.

In a demanding aesthetic to represent this endless quest for social recognition and contemporary hedonism, I photograph bodies that are always staged, even dramatized, never captured according to the obsolete rules of the decisive moment or the codes of urgency of photojournalism. Behind the flattering aspect of my shots with their academic framing and lighting, between documentary photography and staging, I systematically put the viewer’s desire to look into tension. By diverting existing forms of certain photographic genres such as reportage, corporate photography and street photography, I amuse myself by playing with the perception of my images.

In these works, I deal with the idea of the double and identity, playing language games.”

(Contrat Local d’Education Artistique) residency in a social center in the Ile-de-France.

From 2017 to 2020 Christophe Beauregard was artistic director of the Nuit blanche des enfants at the 18th arrondissement’s town hall, initiated by Carine Rolland, currently deputy mayor of Paris in charge of culture.
